#16 Responds to the GBE2 Challenge: Make a List and Then Title It

Yesterday, I posted a little diddy in response to a writing challenge issued by my blogging group, the Group Blogging Experience 2 (GBE2). Number 16 on my list, Husband Who?, seemed to resonate with people. Thank you for that! Thank you for the fun e-mails and messages calling for a response from Number Sixteen! What would his list be?

Well, he's an agreeable fellow. I found the list below on my blog this morning.

Since this blog has just celebrated it's first blogiversary, I guess it is only fitting that I have my first guest blogger--don't you all? (But don't get used to it. If he enjoys the stage, he can create From the Dad Cave or something!)

May I introduce to you all, Number 16:

Assistive tech, med bills, and
family groceries.
Have you seen the prices on
gluten free toasties?
Employer's future what will it
bring ?
These are a few of number 16's
things,

Mower is broken and Spring's
coming early
Escalators and Carousels at the
mall by 6:30,
Passenger side car mirror is
hanging by a string,
These are a few of number 16's
things.

When will taxes hike ?
When will inflation strike ?
Enough to make you sad,

But then I remember the joys this
life brings,
and then I don't feel bad.

like...

Talking to chatty about volcanoes
and stars,
Watching him invent a rocket to
Mars,
Playing chase with our big guy as
he's giggling,
These are a few of number 16's
things.

Our kids have a mom who never
stops trying,
To make things better and keep
things flying,
Even more beautiful now then
when she was 18,
These are a few of number 16's
things.

It's not easy !
It's not normal !
Wears you down real bad,

But in the end we have to play the
cards that we're dealt . . . and I
like the ones in in our hands.

"Making a silk purse from a sow's ear."

In other words, Making things work when there is no reason to believe they will.

  6. Staying strong together is the best thing you can do for each other. Being there for each other when things get too overwhelming. So many parents of autistic children can't handle the extra pressure their needs bring to a family and get divorced. We just celebrated 24 years together, and some of those years were really hard because of our differing opinions on how to raise our kids. But, we did it! And, so can you!
