How do you find down time for yourself? Do you ever get a break and get a chance to go to "mall" for yourself? Thanks for the tips on what to do. You inspire us all. Certainly, we don't expect people in the crowd to know what to do, but we might forget to give direction. Lol. Just ask. Finding quiet and dedicated time to collect my thoughts is nearly impossible. I think that's why this turned out so long. Perhaps I could have told it better if I could have dedicated writing time?

I really appreciate your support and help!Amy McMunn https://www.blogger.com/profile/04777029840258598019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4045303808923827751.post-69920736989827857652013-02-17T11:55:17.819-05:002013-02-17T11:55:17.819-05:00Life is a blur, Jo. I was at the mercy of a kind shopper and the store manager. Big Guy was out of his mind trying to get to the vacuum behind the pharmacy counter. We were both stuck on the floor right by the check out. It was the first time he'd punched me.

Those were the days before he had found medication to calm his obsessions. Thank goodness for behavioral medication!!

I would have written about that story, but this is the one that came out when I started to write. Spoken from someone "in the crowd" when I've viewed scenarios such as this...my heart always goes out to the parent(s). You sound like someone who lives The Serenity Prayer. I have been part of "the crowd" at a scene like this upon occasion and I have stayed by in case help was needed, but did not ask. Next time, I will. Care to share?

thanks for reading. I had typos that I hoped to catch before many saw them. You know me--always a work in progress!

What should members of the crowd do should they see such a situation? Thank you for asking. It is a tough situation. In the end, it would never hurt to quickly ask, "Can I help?" Each situation will be different. Although our son attacked me and we were on the floor, I felt in control of him that day. Outside help was not needed. I was more than once in a situation where I literally did not feel safe to attempt to move with him without assistance. I was alone and needed help.

Bottom line: always ask.Amy McMunn https://www.blogger.com/profile/04777029840258598019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4045303808923827751.post-7396705992830731842013-02-16T21:53:34.698-05:002013-02-16T21:53:34.698-05:00Thank you for taking the time to read it.
